FAB9 Thursday 22nd July, 12-1pm Career overview with Prof Sheila Francis - Sheila discussed aspects of her career where things did not go as well as expected alongside her many highlights. FAB8 Wednesday 23rd June, 12-1pm Lucy Bartrick from Research Services gave an overview of the support available in putting together fellowship applications and the post-award support available. FAB7 19th May 2021, 12-1pm ** Wellcome Cafe Culture discussion: https://wellcome.org/what-we-do/our-work/research-culture We discussed our research environment and what we can do to improve it. See blog for more details. FAB6 4th Nov 2020, 1pm Via Blackboard Collaborate ** Dr Sandrine Soubes presented an interactive online session entitled ‘Keeping Joy during your research leadership’. FAB5 23rd April, 2-3pm via Google Hangouts * We held a round table discussion about our experiences of working from home/remotely (including with the added complications/fun/stress/ childcare may or may not involve for some of us!) We shared ideas, best practice and how we are all doing. A brief summary is now up on the blog page. FAB4 2-3pm 30th Jan 2020 K136 in IICD, The Medical School * Lucy Lee (Research Services) presented some of the courses and support relevant to researchers at this career stage (transitioning to fellowships/consolidating independence) that are offered via RS/Think Ahead. ** Heather Mortiboys led a discussion on strategies other universities run in order to monitor progression of fellows onto tenured positions FAB3 Friday 8th Nov 3-4pm Sitran ** Alison Condliffe spoke about her experienceson grants panels and provided some tips for successful future applications ** We also had a round table in which attendees introduced themselves and their research so everyone could get to know each other better FAB2 Tuesday 17th Sep 3-4pm K136/K137 in IICD ** Simon Johnston presented a report/leading a discussion on various lab meeting set ups. ** Riccardo Manca (Sitran) presented an outline of his forthcoming grant for advice and feedback; running title: "Characterisation and quantification of cognitive aging and cognitive impairment in LGBT older adults." FAB1 Thursday 4th July 3-4pm K136 in IICD ** coffee and networking ** an introduction to the FAB network (I Evans) ** challenges on independence (A Twelvetrees) |
